WENDELL ALEXIS (LL)

WENDELL ALEXIS
Wendell Alexis was born in Brookling in July 31, 1964.
From the Syracyse University he moved quickly to Europe for a long professional career.
Before playing with Valladolid in Spain and then with the shirt of Real Madrid where he won a Korac Cup but the lost the final of the championship in 1988.
In 1988 he moved to Italy and landed in Leghorn where he played for 2 season in the Libertas (1988/89 and 1989/90) also playing the famous championship finals against Philips Milan.
After the adventure in Leghorn (but remains tied to the city and fans) that he moved to Siena where he played one season with the Mens Sana (1990/91).
The following year he moved to Trapani where he remained until 1993.
In 1993 he moved to Israel where he played with Maccabi Tel Aviv, which won the league and the national cup.
In 1994 he returned to play in Italy for a brief stint with Viola Reggio Calabria.
After a brief appearence with the Levallois in France in 1996 he moved to Germany where he played with Alba Berlin until 2002. In 2002 he moved to Greece where he played with Paok Thessaloniki.
In 2003 he returned in Germany where he played with the BC Mittledentscher.
He retires in 2004.
With the shirt of Libertas ha played 72 games (including the famous championship finals) and scored 1452 points and playing 2549 minutes.
He also won a bronze medal at the World Championship in 1998 with the U.S. Team.
He's currently assistant coach of the Austin Toros.

JACKIE ROBINSON (PL)

JACKIE ROBINSON
Jackie Robinson was born in Los Angeles (USA) May 20, 1955.
He played as well in the NBA, even in Italy, Israel and Spain.
From the UNLV  has played, first in the CBA with the shirt of Las Vegas Dealers (1978/79) and later in the NBA with the Seattle Supersonics, in 1980 with the Detroit Pistons and in 1981 with the Chicago Bulls.
In 1982/83 arrives in Italy, where the glorious dress shirt of Pallacanestro Leghorn (PL).
The following season wears the uniform of the great European team, one of Maccabi Tel Aviv (1983/84).
In 1984/85 last season before retiring as a player: play in Spain with Espanyol.
With the Pallacanestro Leghorn has played 30 games and scored 660 point and played 1139 minutes.
He retired in 1985.
He won the NBA title in 1979 with the Seattle Supersonics.

DAVID WOOD (LL)

DAVID WOOD
David Wood was born in Spokane (USA) in November 30, 1964.
He has played in Italy, Spain, France and United States in the CBA and in the NBA.
In Italy he has played with the shirt of Libertas Leghorn in the 1988/89 season where he repleced, with a contract with coins, Joe Binion. With the "gialloblu" of Libertas Leghorn has played the now infamous championship finals againts Olimpia Milan.
The following season, before returing to play in NBA (he also played with the Chicago Bulls), plays with Barcelona in Spain in 1989/90 season. In 1990/91 plays with Houston Rockets ad again in 1991/92 returned to play in Spain with Saski Baskonia.
In 1992/93 returns to play in the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons (1993/94), Golden State Warriors (1994/96), Phoenix Suns (1996), Dallas Mavericks (1996), Milwaukee Bucks (1996/97).
In 1998 he returned in Europe, first in Spain with CB Malaga and then with Murcia.
In 1999 he moved to France where he played in Limoges. After returning back to Spain where he played with the Gran Canaria (2000) and the Fuenlabrada (2000/2003).
In 2007, playing his last season in the CBA with the Reno Sharpshooters.
In 1998 he also won the bronze medal at the World Basketball Championship with the US national team along with another former player of the Libertas Leghorn, Wendell Alexis.
David Wood has played with the Liberta Leghorn (pictured) 16 games and scored 168 points and played 345 minutes.
He retired in 2007.

ANTHONY TEACHEY (PL)

ANTHONY TEACHEY
Anthony Teachey was born in Goldsboro in March 27, 1962.

He played in Italy, Spain, France and Argentina.

In Italy he played in Forlì but especially in Leghorn with the jersey of Pallacanestro Leghorn in 1984/85 season and in 1986/87 season.

In Spain he played with the shirt of C.B. Malaga (1987/88), in France with the shirt of Lorient (1987/88), in the CBA with the shirt of Lecrosse Catbirds (1989/90) and in Argentina with the shirt of Indipendiente Neuquer.

With the shirt of Pallacanestro Leghorn has played 62 games and scored 1061 points and 644 rebounds winning.

He retired in 1990.

This summer will be held on the 2012 Don Bosco Leghorn Basketball Camp. The Camp will take place in Zocca (near Modena) in the Region of Emilia-Romagna.
Partecipate in the event children born from 1998 to 2002.

2012 CHAMPIONSHIP ITALIAN FINALS: TWO FORMER PROTAGONISTS FROM LEGHORN

In this championship finals, between Siena and Milan, are two former from Leghorn. Luca Banchi (currently assistant coach at Siena) ha coached at Leghorn and was responsible for the youth of Don Bosco Leghorn; Jacopo Giachetti (Milan) is the youth of Pielle Leghorn and he debuted in the italian league with the shirt of Basket Leghorn.

SAURO BUFALINI INTO THE ITALIAN BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME

BUFALINI WITH THE TOP OF THE NATIONAL ITALIAN TEAM
Monday, May 7 there will be an awards ceremony for the case of Italy Basketball Hall of Fame. Amog the characters we will be rewarded too late Sauro Bufalini, who died recently.
Bufalini has worn the jersey of the Libertas is that the mesh of Pallacanestro Leghorn before he won all possible titles by Ignis Varese.
A nice recognition for a great player.
