KORAC CUP - PART 1: THE GAMES OF LIBERTAS LEGHORN IN SEASON 1984/85 (FIRST PARTICIPATION)

We begin the journey of games played by teams from Leghorn in Europe, especially in the Korac Cup where both the Libertas and Pallacanestro Leghorn Livorno were able to participate.

In this first part we'll show you lots of Libertas Leghorn first participation in the prestigious European competition in 1984/85 season.

LEGHORN ALSO WAS A KEY PLAYER IN EUROPE

Even teams Leghorn were protagonists in European competitions.

Especially the Libertas and Pallacanestro Leghorn have played, a total of 3 times, their match Korac Cup (the trophy in the photo), former European competition which was founded in 1972, has seen its abolition in 2002.

Leghorn, in its small, has played its part in 1984/85 with the formation of Libertas Leghorn sponsored by Birra Peroni, in 1988/89 with the Pallacanestro Leghorn sponsored by Allibert and again in 1989/90 with the Libertas Leghorn sponsored by Enimont.

Then everything ended with the merger, but if they still existed two the two companies, who knows if we would be here to recount only those shares or other equity maybe we would be telling perhaps the most prestigious competitions.

EX HEAD COACH OF THE LEGHORN'S BASKETBALL TEAM WIN THE ITALIAN CUP

As we all know basketball is no longer Leghorn at the highest levels of national basketball team so we are forced to go elsewhere to see how they are former Leghorn in different societies of Lega A and LegaDue.

Today worthy of note is the second consecutive victory in the Italian Cup by the Monte dei Paschi di Siena and then, consequently, the second consecutive win by Luca Banchi (in the photo), former coach to our city and now assistant coach of Pianigiani.

Luca Banchi has been trained for years in the youth sector of the Don Bosco Leghorn where he won as coach of the junior training, three league titles and head-coach of the first team of Don Bosco and Basket Leghorn.
